The all-British middleweight clash is just weeks away.

Chris Eubank Jr. is now set to fight Liam Williams on February 5 for their twice-rearranged clash.

The middleweight pair were due to fight on December 11 last year, but Williams suffered a shoulder injury that led to the bout being pushed back to January 29.

However, with weeks to go until that new date, the British Boxing Board of Control announced that they would suspend all boxing activity for all of January, and potentially further. The move was made with the intention to free up health service workers during the latest wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

That meant that another date was decided, with the start of February chosen, but that is conceivably also under threat if the Omicron variant spread persists into the next month.

“Following advice from the British Boxing Board of Control Medical Panel, Boxing tournaments under the jurisdiction of the BBBofC will be suspended for the month of January,” the BBBofC said.

“A further review by the Medical Panel and Stewards will take place prior to the planned recommencement of Boxing in February.”
