Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall are one step closer to securing their dream fight after it was announced that two of the world’s best fighters would share a bill in December. In the immediate aftermath of Marshall’s win over Lolita Muzaya, Ben Shalom of Boxxer announced that both boxers would be in action in separate fights in Birmingham on December 11th.
The pair have been on a collision course since Marshall registered a win over Shields in the 2012 World Championships. That result, the only blemish on Shields’ incredible fighting record, has remained the key narrative between the rivals, and it’s set to be a talking point in the coming months as they prepare for a mega fight in 2022.
For now, Shields’ focus will be on October 27th as she participates in her second MMA bout against Abigail Montes. After securing an incredible collection of world titles in the boxing ring, Shields made the switch to the octagon earlier this year when stopping Brittney Elkin in three rounds.
