The next move of Canelo Alvarez is still unknown, but the Mexican icon continues to be linked to a number of high-profile bouts.
So far in 2024, Canelo has enjoyed dominant wins over Jaime Munguia and Edgar Berlanga but fights against Terence Crawford and David Benavidez continue to be speculated for the super-middleweight world champion.
As well as Crawford and Benavidez, the likes of Chris Eubank Jr, Artur Beterbiev, and Dmitry Bivol are all popular names who Canelo could take on in 2025.
Beterbiev and Eubank Jr enjoyed wins in Saudi Arabia earlier this month, and both would likely relish the opportunity to test themselves against Canelo.
Claressa Shields, one of boxing’s most decorated fighters, has recently been speaking about Canelo, and although she’s a big admirer of Benavidez, she believes that Crawford is the man who could beat Canelo.
“David [Benavidez] is a different type of animal, it’s a fight I wanna see,” said Shields when speaking to Fight Hub TV .
“But I still think the only man that can beat Canelo is Terence Crawford. That’s just what I think, and I want to see it.”
