Clay Collard has had to pull out of the Lomachenko-Lopez fight after he tested positive for coronavirus. The rest of the event is still to go ahead.

Lightweight boxer Clay Collard has been forced to withdraw from the Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez Jr. undercard after testing positive for coronavirus.

ESPN reports that the 27-year-old American, who used to compete in MMA before committing to boxing, has pulled out of his bout against Quincy LaVallais, his opponent from 2019.

Collard had impressed with wins over Raymond Guajardo in February and David Kaminsky in June earlier this year, but will now have to at least postpone his previously planned fight.

Collard told the media company of the setback that “this won’t stop me for long.”

The former UFC athlete is planning a return to the sport in 2021 with the PFL.

The rest of the Lomachenko-Lopez card is set to go ahead unaffected.
