Josh Kelly is the latest name to put himself forward as a potential opponent for Conor Benn when the Essex man returns to the ring.
Since losing to David Avanesyan at welterweight in 2021, Kelly has rebuilt his career admirably with wins at 154lbs and he now believes he’s ready to test himself against one of the biggest names in British boxing.
After having his huge grudge match with Chris Eubank Jr postponed last year due to an adverse finding in a pre-fight drug test, Benn has been waiting to get back in the ring.
Fights with Eubank Jr, Kell Brook and Manny Pacquiao have been linked to Benn, and now Kelly is looking to test himself against the unbeaten fighter.
“Of course it [Benn fight] can happen. I welcome all of those fighters in that [super-welterweight] pool with open arms, come and talk to Josh Kelly,” said Kelly when speaking to Boxing Social.
