A matchup between these two fighters is one fans want to see.

David Benavidez appears to have shut down any chance of a meeting with undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Alvarez will return to the ring on May 4 when he defends his four 168lb world titles against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia, but while this has the chance to be an entertaining affair, many fans were hoping to see Alvarez finally face Benavidez.

The American has been in pole position to face Alvarez for a number of years, but with the latter demanding a huge purse for the fight, Benavidez has decided to move up in weight and challenge some of the biggest names at light heavyweight.

"With Canelo, it’s that bulls—t, ‘Oh, he needs to be respectful.’ I won’t bow my knee to anybody because I’ve earned my shot,” Benavidez said on The Fresh and Fit Podcast.

“This fight isn’t happening because he wants $150million. That’s telling me he’s scared.

"I don’t think that Canelo fight is going to happen, so I’ve gotta move on. These guys at 175lbs are some killers. Now my mind is one hundred percent focused on them.”
