The WBC title is on the line on July 24

Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott is not worried about his fighter’s precise weight ahead of his fight with Tyson Fury.

Fury will take on the Bronze Bomber for their trilogy rematch on July 24, and Fury has claimed that he is aiming to come into the bought breaching the 300lb mark.

BoxingScene.com reports Scott as saying: “I would just like to see him in dog shape.”

Scott pointed out that Wilder had more success against Fury at a lower weight, so is not putting too much stock into his fighter’s stature.

“When [Wilder] was 209 [pounds] he knocked Tyson Fury [down] and then Tyson Fury got up,” Scott explained.

“When he was 230 [pounds], we took the loss to Tyson Fury and we were dealing with issues in the fight.”

“It’s just no telling.”

Scott thinks that such is Wilder’s power, that he remains in with a chance against any opponent - all he needs to do is connect.

“I can tell you one thing,” he said, “no matter what he weighs, Deontay has the power to knock any heavyweight out in any era. And I say that unapologetically.

“Put him in any era, and if he hit any heavyweight in any era [they're] going to sleep. That’s just facts.

“Deontay’s mindset is in a perfect place.

“Our preparation is intact more than ever. He’s better than he’s ever looked. Just his mentality right now is perfect for the task at hand because we got to be on point and we are on point. We all have to be ready and we are ready. We’re just fine tuning. Crossing all the 't's and getting all the 'i's dotted.”
