The heavyweight pair are finally set to fight.

Joseph Parker is on course for a fight with Dereck Chisora after the New Zealand heavyweight beat Junior Fa at the weekend.

Parker marked a year away from the ring with a points victory over Junior Fa in Auckland, and is now set to meet the Briton later in the year.

The pair were meant to fight in October 2019, but an illness caused by a spider bite meant that the event had to be called off.

Now it appears that Chisora and Parker are ready to finally face off, with a fight expected by both camps even before the Fa-Parker fight took place.

"If we can get Joseph Parker this year, in the next couple of months, we'd be happy for that," Chisora told Sky Sports.

"Right now we are in talks about the fight to be in London."

Parker and Fa put on a tough-fought event at the weekend but both appeared to have suffered from a lack of action, in part due to the coronavirus pandemic that ravaged sport over the course of 2020.

"The fight was not great," admitted Chisora. "The simple reason for that was they didn't spar a lot. They were not in shape, they didn't train hard enough. There was no fear factor for both of them.

"Parker did what he needed to win. This was his comeback fight after a year. He's just getting into his stride so we'll see what happens."
