Devin Haney's next fight could be against British welterweight star Conor Benn according to his father and trainer Bill Haney.
Haney is considered to be one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters and added to what is already a stacked resume when he became a two-weight world champion after beating Regis Prograis last December to become the WBC world super lightweight champion.
There are a number of options Haney could pursue including a matchup against Benn, according to Bill Haney who was ringside for Benn's clash with Peter Dobson in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
"That’s the position Devin is in, Conor has earned the position he’s in and if that can happen, we’ll get to it," Haney told iFL TV when asked about a possible meeting with Benn.
"I won’t dismiss Conor or anything he brings to the table, but we have some other things brewing and if those things don’t come to fruition, we have got to give Conor Benn and his team a call."
Benn got his 2024 off to a winning start with a hard fought unanimous decision win over Dobson with the three ringside judges scoring the contest 119-109, 118-110 and 118-110 in the British fighter's favour.
