Did Terence Crawford watch film on Errol Spence to prepare for their fight?DAZN

Terence Crawford beat Errol Spence Jr. to the punch practically whenever he wanted to en route to delivering a spectacular ninth-round TKO last month.

But that edge didn't come from watching hours of Spence's fight footage, according to Crawford.

"A lot of people always ask me do I watch a lot of film on my opponents and I always tell them no because I have a different style," Crawford, the undisputed welterweight world champion, started explaining to Joe Rogan on 'The Joe Rogan Experience.'

"They're not going to fight me the same style or the same way that they fought their previous opponents. They're just not," he continued. "I already knew how [Spence] fought. I probably watched two fights of his just to get a feel for what he likes to do, what he doesn't like, the things that I could capitalize on and that's it.

He added: "I don't watch too much film because I'm going to make my adjustments on the fly inside of the ring. I was never that type of person (to study hours of film). I let my coaches do the studying and then they come up with a plan and then they shoot me the plan to win and we just go from there."

Crawford is so confident in his skills that the acclaimed switch hitter — perhaps the best in boxing — made the choice to go southpaw only right before the July 29 bout against Spence started.

"I think I made the change to fight southpaw in the back dressing room."

Crawford currently awaits Spence's decision to formally activate the rematch clause for a second fight.
