Dillian Whyte accuses 'jokers' Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury of staging run-in chat

Dillian Whyte accuses 'jokers' Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury of staging run-in chatDAZN
Dillian Whyte doesn't like anything about the cordial chat that Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury had in Spain last month.

Dillian Whyte doesn't believe that Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury met by chance last month in Spain, and he's blasting the pair of heavyweight world champions for it.

“That [meeting] looked so staged,” Whyte told Sky Sports earlier this week about the run-in chat that Joshua and Fury had in Marbella. “Those two just met at the right time and the right place? And they were just having a casual chat?

“The way they speak on social media — they want to do this to each other. It looks like it was just staged."

In June, Joshua and Fury agreed in principle on a two-fight deal, which will commence in the summer of 2021. That's all the more reason why Whyte was so miffed about the heavyweight champs' conversation turning out so cordial.

Whyte, who faces Alexander Povetkin on Aug. 22, was so irked by that "casual chat" that he even felt relegated to call "AJ" and the "Gypsy King" a couple of "jokers."

"I was just laughing," Whyte continued. "I was thinking to myself: ‘Look at these two jokers.’"

Whyte added that he wouldn't have handled the situation like that at all if he were to bump into a future opponent.

"If I see someone and they’re talking smack about me and saying they are going to do this and do that, then when I see you, have the same energy," he said. “I’m not going to be standing outside your car window, standing on the sidewalk speaking to you. Come on, man.”

Before Joshua and Fury can face other, AJ must defend his unified world heavyweight championship against Kubrat Pulev. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn recently targeted early December for that bout to happen. Meanwhile, Fury, the WBC champion, is honing in on a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

On Friday, the WBC confirmed with Sky Sports that Fury will have to face Whyte next if he's able to defeat Wilder first.

Perhaps, then, Whyte can show Joshua how chats with a future opponent should go.
