The two could end up doing battle in an intriguing heavyweight clash later this year.

Dillian Whyte made official his intentions to pursue a big heavyweight fight with fellow top contender Deontay Wilder, badmouthing the former WBC world champion on social media.

Whyte is back in contention for a world title challenge after avenging his shock one-punch loss to Alexander Povetkin with an emphatic performance in Gibraltar, but with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury looking set to face off twice with all four major heavyweight titles occupied in at least the first of the two bouts, the chasing pack may need one more big win to be next in line.

Wilder hasn't fought since Fury handed him his first loss in February 2020 to take the WBC belt away from 'The Bronze Bomber', and Whyte is confident he can be the second man to stop the American in his tracks.

On Instagram, 'The Body Snatcher' posted:  “I want to punish Deontay Wilder. The coward is full of fear. Come see me fraud clown.”

With both men ranked highly by the WBC — and with Whyte being interim champion — there is also a chance that the eventual showdown between the two burly combatants could end up being for the vacant title, if the sanctioning body opts to vacate the belt after AJ vs. Fury 1.

DAZN recently outlined a possible roadmap of every major world heavyweight title, in light of Joshua and Fury's impending series. You can read that here.
