The heavyweights will meet on Saturday night.

Dillian Whyte’s sparring partner Jermarcus Polain believes that he will be too much for Alexander Povetkin when the pair fight on Saturday night.

Whyte himself believes he is going to knock out his Russian opponent to reclaim the WBC interim championship, which he lost last August in an upset defeat in August’s Fight Camp finale.

He has been been preparing for a fight in Gibraltar after three delays, caused by various problems arising from the coronavirus pandemic, including Povetkins’ own bout of Covid-19.

Polain has been in Whyte’s training camp with fellow sparring fighters Mateus Masternak and Eric Pfeifer. With hopes of a title fight on the line, Polain believes the 32-year-old Briton has improved.

“They call him the Body Snatcher for a reason,” Polain said to Pro Boxing Fans.

“It’s amazing how much power that this guy generates. He’s very strong and he’s growing daily.

“Just to see him from afar as an up-and-coming kid in the game to actually being side-by-side training with him, I’ve seen such a growth in him in that period alone, but man he’s coming along very good, he’s going to be ready.”

28-year-old Polain knows that Povetkin will have the chance of another knockout, just as he did in the fifth round in the August fight, but thinks Whyte will be the man to emerge victorious.

“I see my man putting this guy down,” he said.

“I believe in him 100%. I’m confident in what he’s going to do.

“This is a game of a puncher’s chance. Anybody can do what happened, and we know of course he was looking extremely well that night and in my opinion was winning the fight up until the shot.

“With that being said, I expect the same thing. Dillian’s going to come out and look great and I definitely see him being victorious on the night of March 27.”
