Eddie Hearn thinks that light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol will return to the ring in May or June this year.
The WBA belt holder last fought Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez to defend his belt and follow up his surprise victory over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in May that year.
A rematch with Canelo - linked with his own May return against John Ryder - might mean that any second fight is far from certain, but Hearn believes that is one of several options.
The promoter told DAZN: “End of May or early June, for Dmitry Bivol. He’s in a really interesting situation where Canelo Alvarez is desperately trying to get his revenge.“Obviously there’s the [Artur] Beterbiev undisputed fight, the Joshua Buatsi voluntary defence, obviously, while he’s waiting to see what happens.
“We’re in talks with Dmitry and his team about his next fight.”
