Canelo Alvarez believes that Dmitry Bivol would beat David Benavidez should they meet in the ring.
The former super middleweight has moved up to light heavyweight, and could be in line for a mandatory shot at the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol, on October 12.
Canelo, who fights Edgar Berlanga live on DAZN on September 14, also fought Bivol, the only fighter to beat the Mexican apart from Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Speaking to BoxingScene , Alvarez said if Benavidez is at the same level he was against Oleksandr Gvozdyk when he moved up to 175lbs, Bivol would be the winner.
“If Benavidez is like we saw in the last fight, yes, Bivol beats him,” Alvarez said.
