The heavyweight lost again.

Eddie Hearn lamented the drop-off in Deontay Wilder’s talents after the fighter lost to Zhilei Zhang on Saturday night.

The former WBC heavyweight champion was representing Matchroom in the clash with Queensberry in Riyadh, and the Bronze Bomber was stopped in an underwhelming showing.

That is the American’s second consecutive defeat after falling to Joseph Parker in Saudi Arabia, and there have been suggestions - including from the fighter himself - that he could consider his future now.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV after the clash, Hearn questioned Wilder’s self-belief after a few tough years including his trilogy with Tyson Fury.

“Just not the same in all honesty,” he said. “I just feel his belief is not there anymore, and you’ve got to ask yourself why? Is it just the time, is something else not right?

“He is not letting his hands go, and that is what made him one of the most feared fighters in the world.”

He added: “He is not the fighter he was, at the moment.

“People come back, but it is deep in the road.”
