Eddie Hearn has confirmed that he has made an offer to Dillian Whyte to fight Anthony Joshua this August.
Speaking on Talksport on Wednesday morning, he said that the heavyweight fighter had been given the chance to meet former world champion Anthony Joshua on August 12, as the pair look to assert claims for another world title fight down the line.
"What is going on is we made an offer to Dillian Whyte on Friday. I think AJ posted on Snapchat a little cryptic rap that was thrown in there.
"He knows we're trying to make that fight for August 12. That offer was made at the weekend. We're talking to Dillian Whyte's team.
"There's a lot going on with the whoile Saudi Arabian set up. They want to do AJ against Deontay Wilder. They want to do Tyson Fury against Usyk, and they want to do that on the same night, which is a huge ask."
For Joshua, the fight would represent his second bout after back-to-back defeats to Ukrainian fighter Oleksandr Usyk, who is set to fight Daniel Dubois two weeks after this proposed match-up.
He last fought on April 1 against American fighter Jermaine Franklin.
Joshua is now working with a new trainer, Derrick James, in a stable full of talent as he attempts his way back to the top of boxing for the third time.
He is also expected to fight Deontay Wilder in December, but that contest is far from assured with no confirmation of any deal with the former WBC champion.
Joshua has been subject of interest from the current WBC belt holder, Tyson Fury, but there has been scepticism over the validity of a fight between the two Britons.
Whyte’s last fight was also against Franklin, after he lost his previous match as a mandatory challenger to Fury in the summer of 2022.
Joshua and Whyte have fought once before, in 2015, when Joshua secured a stoppage win as their pair contested the WBC International, Commonwealth and British heavyweight belts.
