Eddie Hearn has revealed that an offer has been made to Anthony Joshua's next opponent.
Following his points win over Jermaine Franklin, Hearn has plans to get Joshua fighting in the summer and it could be a rematch with Dillian Whyte before a potential meeting with former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder at the end of the year.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Hearn confirmed that an offer has been sent to Whyte's camp and is now awaiting a response.
"Our plan, which we've stressed, is for AJ to box on 12 August and in December again against Deontay," Hearn said.
"The offer was made to Dillian over the weekend. We are waiting for his response to that and we'll talk today.
"Dillian has a lot of value in the rematch.
"This is not an opponent for Joshua, but a big fight between two world-class heavyweights and huge British names.
"The negotiations will be difficult but both AJ and Whyte want the fight."
Joshua and Whyte first met in the professional ranks in December 2015 and produced a thrilling contest which saw Joshua triumph with a seventh round stoppage.
