Eddie Hearn was very impressed after watching Dalton Smith score the most impressive win of his career on March 23.
Smith was supposed to receive a significant test from Jose Zepeda and after making a slow start, the Sheffield man landed a superb body shot to end the contest in the fight’s fifth round.
In the immediate aftermath, the focus turned to what could be next for Smith with his promoter focusing on a potential Adam Azim fight.
Smith will want to test himself at the highest level but a lucrative fight at British level with the victor pushing on could be big business if a deal can be struck.
“I haven’t got too much to say to Adam Azim other than I dare you. I dare you to fight Dalton Smith,” said Hearn after the fight.
“The British Boxing Board of Control have ordered it, the European title have ordered it, your belt, there is no reason that you won’t fight this man other than he’s too good.
“But what we want to do is chase the world championship, but we will drop back down the levels to fight Adam Azim if we have to give Sheffield a big fight.”
