Eddie Hearn has outlined how the planned Matchroom vs. Queensbury event will work when it takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
It was confirmed this week that Hearn will gather his best boxers to take on rival promoter Frank Warren and his fighters in a unique five-on-five event, expected to take place later this year.
Talking to The DAZN Boxing Show to promote Anthony Joshua's titanic clash with Francis Nagannou, Hearn explained how the event came about and what we could expect from this tussle between the two leading promoters.
"This is what happened last time we were in Riyadh, and his excellency said, 'You know what I want to do? I want to do you versus you. Your five best fighters against his five best'," Hearn explained.
"It's a massive opportunity for fighters, I said, winning bonuses for the team. Can you imagine where you've got a team event? You could be on first, and you get beaten on points, but you know that if the Matchroom team wins, you're copping a bonus as well. You'll be stitched up backstage, running to ringside screaming for everybody!
"We'll have reality TV; there'll be a Matchroom house and Queensbury house - there are so many different opportunities. We were saying earlier, so many different levels. You've got Fury vs Joshua at the top, but then you've got fights to begin the night, like Nathanial Collins vs. Hopey Price or Shabaz Masoud vs. Liam Davies - and these are just the small ones. There are so many fights we can do together.
"It was going to take something special to get me and Frank together but we were borderline having Christmas dinner together it was that progressive. Long may it continue and what a time for the sport."
