Dalton Smith returns to action on Saturday when he takes on Jose Zepeda live on DAZN.
The former world title challenger is the toughest test of Smith's career so far and if he can get the win in Sheffield, a shot at a major title may not be too far away.
One name which has been frequently linked with a meeting against Smith is European super lightweight champion Adam Azim.
Purse bids have reportedly been called for the two to go head-to-head and promoter Eddie Hearn is eager to make a deal for what would be a huge fight for British boxing.
"We want it because we’re very confident about the fight," Hearn told The Stomping Ground.
"It’s a big fight, does big numbers, sells a lot of tickets, makes good money for Dalton Smith, but I don’t know why they’re messing around.
"I think they are going to pull out of the fight before Saturday because the last thing you want is Dalton Smith winning, getting in the ring because then it becomes even more embarrassing with everyone watching."
Hearn then went on to claim that Azim and his team don't believe their man is ready to take on Smith.
"They don’t think Adam Azim is ready for Dalton Smith and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that," Hearn continued.
"What is wrong with it is messing around and trying to trick the public."
