The Matchroom Boxing promoter has big plans for the WBC lightweight world champion.

On the heels of signing Shakur Stevenson with his Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn is speaking out about grand plans for the WBC lightweight world champion.

Stevenson will defend his title against Joe Cordina in Riyadh on October 12 and Hearn has even bigger fights that he wants to nail down for the Newark, New Jersey native.

"For me, what we do is we go Joe Cordina, William Zepeda, Gervonta Davis," Hearn revealed in a recent sitdown for Matchroom Boxing's YouTube page. "For me, once we've done our work over that six-month period, Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson will be the biggest fight in boxing.

"But we make our own moves. We're not chasing 'Tank.' We're chasing greatness but that comes with 'Tank' because he's an unbelievable fighter."

Hearn said that Matchroom plans on slating a press conference in Los Angeles soon to make Stevenson's signing with the promotional umbrella a media event and that the buidling of the three-division world champ's marketing profile will be off and running from there.

While conquering 135 pounds is the immediate goal, Hearn says Stevenson can eventually segue to becoming a four-division world titleholder as well.

"Also, I think he can move to 140," Hearn added. "He can fight Liam Paro, he could fight Devin Haney, but right now the focus is 135 and doing the job against Cordina, doing the job against Zepeda and like I said after we've done our job, Shakur against 'Tank' will be the biggest fight in boxing."
