Eddie Hearn has confirmed that an eagerly anticipated rematch between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte could take place early next year.

Joshua’s next move has not yet been revealed, but his name has been linked to numerous heavyweight rivals as he looks to bounce back from consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk and regain a portion of the heavyweight crown.

Whyte, who faces Jermain Franklin on DAZN on November 26, is aiming to recover from his loss to Tyson Fury earlier this year.

A victory over Joshua, a boxer he lost to in 2015, would go a long way in aiding his recovery, and Hearn believes that the fight is a realistic possibility to open up 2023.

“Probably January or February is where we’re looking at,” said Eddie Hearn when speaking to The DAZN Boxing Show regarding Joshua’s return.

“In terms of names, talking to him the other day, he wants to fight Dillian Whyte, really. Dillian Whyte fights on November 26th against Franklin, who is talking a tremendous game, and we’ll see how that plays out.

“I think Dillian Whyte is the frontrunner if he comes through. Otto Wallin is a guy that has reached out numerous times. That’s a good fight for him as well.”
