Eddie Hearn believes that he could turn Salt Papi into a professional fighter, but he would not want him to change weight classes.
Papi delivered a huge knockout blow at the weekend as he fought against Josh Brueckner at cruiserweight.
The social media star is not as trim as KSI or Jake Paul, but Matchroom promoter Hearn believes that he does not necessarily need to move down the weight classes, as he currently appeals to the everyman.
Speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, he said: “I want to turn Salt Papi pro. Leave him, he’s a man of the people - he’s got a belly like me.
“The arena sold out, went nuts for Salt Papi.”
Hearn also praised crossover boxing for its ability to bring fresh eyes to the sport and giving the chance to build the sport’s popularity.
“This other format, this other sport, I think it’s great. You’ve got young kids now going through the doors of amateur boxing clubs because they’re watching Jake Paul, they’re watching KSI.”
