Eddie Hearn had to endure a tough night in Canada as he watched Callum Smith fail to dethrone Artur Beterbiev recently.
The Liverpool man had been backed by many within the boxing community to cause an upset, but he was second best throughout as he failed to make a dent on the 175lbs unified world champion before being stopped in the seventh round.
The plan now is for Beterbiev to face Dmitry Bivol in an undisputed clash that will see a number one crowned at light-heavyweight.
As it stands, bookmakers are unable to separate the talented pair, but Hearn, who has promoted Bivol on multiple occasions, has commented on Beterbiev’s performance against Smith.
“You’re fighting a guy that’s not human,” said Hearn when speaking to Boxing News in the fight’s immediate aftermath.
“He’s not breathing, every shot hurts. Even in the clinches you see how strong he is. I’m not sure anything like it before really. It’s like it’s not right. It’s like an unfair advantage.
“I thought Beterbiev was good defensively tonight as well. He was a lot more switched-on and sharp because I think he knew about the power of Callum Smith.”
