Eddie Hearn names the fighter who will 'retire' if he loses his next fight

Eddie Hearn was hopeful on making Chris Eubank Jr against Conor Benn this summer, but those plans are now on hold with the former opting for a rematch with Liam Smith.

Eubank Jr faces the Liverpool man for a second time following his loss to Smith in January and Hearn believes that the Brighton star will walk away from boxing if he’s unsuccessful on June 17.

Eubank Jr and Benn were scheduled to meet last October but an adverse finding in Benn’s drug test meant the fight was postponed.

The rivalry between the pair is still very much alive and although Hearn still wants to make the fight, he’s fully aware of what Eubank Jr could do if he’s able to settle the score with Smith next month.

“Kalle [Sauerland] and Eubank were desperate to fight Benn,” said Hearn when speaking to Boxing Social

“We just couldn’t get it over the line, and they had to make their call on that fight, and they made their decision.

“If he comes through, we’d love to do the Eubank fight and if he gets beat, he’ll retire.”
