Eddie Hearn was very impressed with Jesse Rodriguez’s stoppage over Juan Francisco Estrada, but he’s uncertain whether the American will ever fight Naoya Inoue.
The Japanese star is currently a couple of weight classes above ‘Bam’, so an imminent meeting appears very unlikely.
The Arizona fighter enhanced his reputation this past weekend with victory against the veteran Mexican and his next move will be widely scrutinised.
Fight fans will be eager to see ‘Bam’ take on Inoue, and Hearn has provided an update on it.
“Jesse vs. Inoue is a fantasy fight. It’s also an incredible fight,” said Hearn when speaking to Matchroom Boxing.
“You’re talking about a guy who has come up from light flyweight. He’s currently at super flyweight, and he’ll definitely go to bantam.
“I’m sure he’ll go to super bantamweight in time, but they’ll probably end up missing each other, but who knows? If Inoue stays at 122 for the next couple of years, Jesse will meet him there. Yeah, probably a fantasy fight for now, but what a fantasy fight it would be.”
