Eddie Hearn not tempted to extend Fight Camp series: 'The greatest thing we've done'DAZN
Eddie Hearn said he feared extending the Fight Camp series into September would be a mistake.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn explained why he would not be continuing his Fight Camp series after Week 4 climaxed with Dillian Whyte’s defeat to Alexander Povetkin.

The surprise result came as arguably the most significant fight of the month-long series, and while Hearn had previously hinted he could continue the events into September, he announced on Instagram that Saturday’s event was the last, at least for now.

Hearn said he was proud of his achievement of putting on the series, telling viewers, “It’s quite emotional. They’re cleaning it out — Fight Camp’s gone."

“It’s mad to think what we did here over the last four weeks. It’s mad to think of that show we did on Saturday.

“I cannot look back on this project without thinking this was the greatest thing we’ve ever done.”

After noting that, “banners are down, the house is back to normal,” as the ring was disassembled around him, he acknowledged that continuing with more Fight Camp events may have delivered diminishing returns.

“I feel that it’s been so good, this whole project, that if we kept it up for another five or six weeks we might have milked it.”
