Eddie Hearn on returning Fight Camp: 'We wanted to make a statement'DAZN
The Matchroom head is gearing up for his new DAZN deal.

Matchroom head Eddie Hearn is looking forward to launching the second series of Fight Camp on DAZN.

Hearn conceived the summer series last season when sport was only permitted behind closed doors, but with the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, the promoter anticipates letting in hundreds of fans to watch the action.

Hearn told the DAZN Boxing Show that, “We’ll have about 400 or 500 people here. This is obviously the headquarters of the Matchroom office.

“Last year we staged an event here, a unique event. It was massive at the time, all sport was behind closed doors, this year we’re going to let 400 or 500 lucky fans in here to experience three weeks of fantastic sport live on DAZN.”

With the sun shining behind him, he quipped: “Hopefully we get weather like this, to be honest.”

Hearn explained why the success of last year’s events meant so much to him.

“It was at a time when everyone had to think on their feet,” he said.

“People were going to venues and soulless studios. We wanted to make a statement and it was so successful, it was also my childhood home.

“When people talk about places of importance to us as a family and our business. This place was our home and our business. Now our current family, which is Matchroom, this is a very special place to us. To showcase this place to the world and start the game-changing deal with the DAZN right here, just felt right.

“Fight Camp 2 is back, starting July 31 for three straight weeks.”
