Eddie Hearn reveals talks with Golden Boy over potential Ryan Garcia vs. Maxi Hughes clash

Eddie Hearn reveals talks with Golden Boy over potential Ryan Garcia vs. Maxi Hughes clashDAZN
Eddie Hearn has invited Ryan Garcia to make his British debut later this year.

Eddie Hearn has offered Ryan Garcia the opportunity to fight in Great Britain for the first time. Garcia makes his long-awaited return to the ring this weekend when he faces Emanuel Tagoe, exclusively live on DAZN

At the start of 2021, Garcia appeared to be on the verge of big things as he stopped former world title challenger, Luke Campbell. The Hull fighter was an Olympic gold medallist who had gone the distance with Jorge Linares and Vasily Lomachenko, but he had no answer to Garcia's body attacks.

Hearn believes another Yorkshireman would make a great opponent for Garcia if he’s successful in his comeback bout on April 9th.

“I called Eric Gomez and said, ‘Let’s bring Ryan Garcia to the U.K.,’” said Hearn when speaking on The DAZN Boxing Show.

“I want to give Maxi Hughes this big opportunity where we can do a big outdoor event in Yorkshire. Bring Ryan Garcia, it’ll be wild. For me, once he gets through Tagoe, they’ve got to keep him active.

“Keep this young man in the gym. You've got Gervonta Davis fighting at the end of May, so he won’t be ready until September or October. Let’s get Ryan Garcia over in the summer. We’ve got a couple of lightweights, but I’d love to give the opportunity to Maxi Hughes.”
