Eddie Hearn ready to put Dillian Whyte in with Deontay Wilder if Tyson Fury fight falls through

With the Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder fight on July 24th seemingly under threat due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the former’s camp, Eddie Hearn has offered a solution.

The Matchroom boss, who is close to announcing Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk for September 25th, has offered the services of Dillian Whyte, and insists his man will step in to fight Wilder later this month.

Whyte, ranked highly by the WBC for what seems an eternity, has consistently been linked to a fight with the Alabama man and it’s no surprise to see his name thrown into the mix if Wilder wishes to compete on that date.

Whyte, rumoured to be facing Jermaine Franklin in August, has been desperate to prove he belongs at the top end of the heavyweight division and a win over Wilder would certainly boost those credentials.

With Wilder having a guaranteed fight against Fury, it may not make sense to him to risk that shot against Whyte, but that didn’t prevent Hearn from making the offer on his official Twitter account.

“Spoke to Dillian Whyte - he is due to fight end of August but ready to jump in July 24 v Wilder,” tweeted Hearn on Friday morning. The postponement is still not official but Hearn and Whyte will be keeping a close eye on developments.
