Both Errol Spence Jr. and Danny Garcia took to Twitter on Friday to announce that they would indeed be going head-to-head on Nov. 21 at a venue to be confirmed. Spence's IBF and WBC welterweight titles will be on the line.
The two elite fighters were looking at Jan. 25 of this year, once upon a time, for their eagerly anticipated bout. However, a car accident put Spence, 30, on the shelf indefinitely, and Garcia instead scored a unanimous decision over Ivan Redkach on that date. The last time Spence was in the ring, he defeated Shawn Porter via a narrow split decision to unify the WBC title with his IBF championship in what was deemed by many as a fight of the year candidate.
Now, with fights coming back after the COVID-19 pandemic brought boxing to a standstill for several months, the duo have both confirmed their bout will be going ahead with zero tune-up fights beforehand — a particularly surprising development in Spence's situation.
The card will be a Fox pay-per-view event.
