Errol Spence Jr. dismisses Terence Crawford mega clash: 'It really doesn’t matter if we fight or not'DAZN
If you are excited about a possible fight between the two of boxing's best, it might be awhile.

One of the running themes going into Errol Spence Jr.'s bout against Danny Garcia on Saturday is a victory would mean Spence potentially gets closer to taking on Terence Crawford in a battle to determine who is the top dog in the welterweight division, and perhaps the best in boxing.

While fans and media would like to see Spence-Crawford as it's arguably the premier matchup to make in the sport, the unified welterweight champion is focused on Garcia. Still, it doesn't seem he is too keen on the idea of taking on the former undisputed junior welterweight champion and current WBO welterweight titlist.

"I don't really care," Spence said on Boxing with Chris Mannix. "It is what it is. It's not like he's a cash cow. It really doesn't matter if we fight or not. I got Danny Garcia ahead of me. That's the guy I'm focused on. If that fight with Terence happens, it happens. If it don't, I'm not going to lose no sleep over it."

Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) is coming off a fourth-round TKO victory over Kell Brook in the middle of November to make the calls louder for a mega-fight to happen if Spence can get past Garcia. The roadblock though, has been Crawford's promotional team at Top Rank and Spence's advisor Al Haymon. Fights have been made between the entities. But beyond the rematch with Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, marquee contests have been infrequent.

Spence (26-0, 21 KOs) is known as a guy who will face anyone, based on facing Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, and now Garcia in his last three contests. If Spence-Crawford isn't made, the question will always linger on who is the best the sport has to offer. Spence says he's own promoter, and if Crawford really wants it to happen, then he should get ahold of Arum.

"It is what it is," Spence said. "I'm fighting Danny Garcia on Dec. 5. Terence Crawford needs to talk to his promoter."
