Errol Spence Jr. teases next move after Terence Crawford undisputed fight

Errol Spence Jr. teases next move after Terence Crawford undisputed fightDAZN
Will Errol Spence Jr. stay at welterweight after Saturday's super-fight?

Errol Spence Jr. has teased a move up to light middleweight following his clash with Terence Crawford on Saturday night.

The pair meet for the undisputed welterweight title in a fight which has been years in the making, and if Spence emerges victorious, he already has his sights on what could be next.

“I beat Kell Brook, I was saying strap season, strap me up," Spence told Showtime's Ray Flores.

"Then I beat Shawn Porter, got another strap. Had stuff that happen to me but then I beat Ugas and got another strap.

"Then I sat out a year and a half trying to make this fight happen with Terence Crawford to get the other strap.

"After that, I paid my obligations to the welterweight division. It’s time to move up and it’ll be strap season all over again.”

But while Spence maybe looking to move up to 154lbs, there are two issues which could scupper this idea.

First, there is likely to be a rematch regardless of the result at the weekend, therefore Spence may have to face Crawford once more before moving up in weight.

Then there is the world title situation. Jermell Charlo holds all four belts at light middleweight and just so happens to be trained by Derrick James, who is also Spence's coach, meaning that a world title fight at 154lbs may prove difficult to make with both men under the tutelage of James.
