Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford brings shame on Tyson Fury, claims Oleksandr Usyk's managerDAZN

Oleksandr Usyk’s manager Sergey Lapin believes that "a shadow of shame" hangs over Tyson Fury’s choice to face Francis Ngannou.

The pair will fight on October 28, and WBC champion Fury will not be putting his belt on the line against the former UFC fighter.

While Ngannou is preparing for a switch to PFL, Fury had been offered the chance to fight Usyk in an undisputed clash, and while rumours persist the pair may meet in Saudi Arabia in December for such a fight, the late date against Ngannou makes it appear less likely.

Speaking to Sporting Post, Lapin was dismissive, pointing out the sporting merits of another undisputed clash: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford.

Lapin said: “When they meet this weekend, their fight of the highest calibre will cast a shadow of shame over Fury’s decision to chase money against Francis Ngannou, rather than unify the titles against Usyk.

“This is a decision that if not rectified will damage Fury’s legacy. Spence and Crawford is a legacy defining fight.

“They wanted to test themselves in the ring against the best possible opponent. Meanwhile, Fury and Ngannou belong in a circus tent, and the WBC title continues to be held captive.”
