Felix Cash will step into the ring for the first time in a year-and-a-half when he faces Tyler Denny for the EBH middleweight title on June 22, live worldwide on DAZN.
Cash last fought in December 2022, when he earned a points victory against Celso Neves, but then he sat out the entirety of 2023 and the first half of 2024.
The 31-year-old is eager to make his return, and at a pre-fight press conference on Thursday he explained his lengthy absence and why he chose this bout as his return.
"This is a great fight to come back to," Cash said. "I was meant to fight for the European title over a year ago now but life had other plans.
"I had an operation on my hand and I’m all good now. I’ve had a change of trainer and I’m excited, I can’t wait to get my hands on that belt."
Despite taking on an opponent who has been active throughout his own hiatus, Cash isn't too worried about the outcome or the location of the fight as he believes the result is a foregone conclusion.
“I’ve boxed all over the world, I don’t care where I fight," he said. "His people can’t fight for me, it’s just me and him in there. I could’ve had a warm-up fight but I feel good in the gym and don’t want to miss the opportunity to pick up the European belt. I’ll treat this as my warm-up anyway because I’m coming for bigger things afterwards.
“He’s a decent fighter but he’s been beaten before and he’ll get beaten again on June 22. I respect any man who steps in the ring but it’s a shame for him that he’s got to step in there with me.
“I’m making up for lost time and I believe that once I clip him, it’s good night.”
