Floyd Mayweather Jr. will return in 2021 for "something big", the fighter has announced — but there are few other details about his plans.

The 43-year-old unbeaten five-weight former champion will feature on the card of the MEGA 2021 MMA event at the Tokyo Dome on February 28 next year, according to reports.

There is no confirmation on who Mayweather will fight, nor is there any clarification on which discipline he will be competing in.

Speaking on an Instagram video, Mayweather said that, “I know the Olympics is in Japan in 2021, but me, myself, Floyd 'Money' Mayweather and my team will be doing something big in Tokyo Dome.

“Japan, I’m on my way.”

Mayweather has 50 professional wins to his name and is yet to suffer defeat, and he has also fought in Japan before in an exhibition fight, when he beat Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018 over three rounds.

He has also spent part of his retirement coaching, including lightweight competitors Devin Haney and Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
