Canelo Alvarez proved there was plenty of life left in his career with a resounding win over Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas.
Canelo produced his finest performance in a long time and his dominance impressed many within the boxing trade including Floyd Mayweather.
Ten years ago, Mayweather handed Canelo his first loss and he’s continued to be a presence whenever the Mexican fights.
Now very much ingrained in the crossover boxing world, Mayweather’s time in the traditional version is limited but the biggest fights can expect his appearance and he was quick to pay tribute to Canelo.
“I respect Canelo,” said Mayweather at the post-fight press conference
“He’s one hell of a champion and he done one hell of a job tonight.”
