Floyd Mayweather is playing matchmaker.

Canelo Alvarez is a target for many fighters with the Mexican icon almost guaranteed to bring plenty of eyes on the sport.

The face of boxing in America, Canelo’s huge profile means he’s often in the spotlight and two outstanding boxers ready to face him are Terence Crawford and David Benavidez.

The highly talented pair are eager to test themselves against the super-middleweight champion, but it appears that both fights are still a way off from happening.

Floyd Mayweather, who knows Canelo well after defeating him in 2013, has urged Crawford and Benavidez to fight each other rather than waiting for a showdown with his former rival.

“He [Crawford] wants to go to 168 and he wants to fight Canelo and Benavidez wants to fight Canelo bad. If they can’t get Canelo, they can fight each other, Benavidez and Crawford,” said Mayweather when speaking to FightHype

“Both of you guys are chasing one fighter [Canelo], and both of y’all can’t get that fighter, then both of you should say, ‘We’ll fight each other'.

“I don’t know. I just threw that out there because you told me about Benavidez trying to fight Canelo, and I know that Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford has been trying to fight Canelo.

“Both of them have been trying to get that fight done. It seems like they’ve both been trying to get it done extremely bad. If they can’t get it done, then you guys fight.”
