Mark Heffron was unable to make any sort of dent in Christian Mbilli as he was stopped by the Frenchman in only 40 seconds.
Heffron has a reputation within British boxing circles for being a menacing figure, but he’ll need to regroup massively if he’s to return from this setback.
Heffron, a former British champion, had no answer for Mbilli’s quick start as he found himself on the ropes almost immediately.
A superb left hook to the body was the shot that did the damage and Heffron was unable to continue once it landed.
The win for Mbilli will boost his profile as he moves to 27-0 with 23 stoppages.
Mbilli looks a serious threat at 168lbs, and he’ll be focusing on securing bigger bouts against the likes of Canelo Alvarez, David Benavidez, and Edgar Berlanga.
