One former fighter has high hopes for a boxer he's training.

Mickey Bey hit many heights in boxing as he reigned as world lightweight champion back in 2014.

The American fighter has not fought since losing a split decision to George Kambosos in 2019 and now he is looking to achieve success as a trainer.

One fighter Bey is currently guiding is David Garcia and Bey has high hopes for the Arizona man who won his debut earlier this month.

Garcia is still in the infancy of his career but that hasn't prevented Bey from pushing high praise on his man and comparing him to two pound-for-pound fighters.

“A little bit of ‘Bam’ mixed with Crawford, and I know that sounds crazy to say, because that is a high bar,” said Bey when speaking to BoxingScene

“He is already seasoned, that is how I am teaching him. A lot of guys when they are his age go out for the kill. We go for the kill, but strategically.”
