Former world champion wants Chris Billam-Smith to move up weight classes for title fight

Former world champion wants Chris Billam-Smith to move up weight classes for title fightDAZN
There could be a huge fight in the future.

Lawrence Okolie is looking for a rematch against Chris Billam-Smith, but predicts it will likely be at a new weight class.

Billam-Smith fights on June 15 (live on Peacock in the US) against Richard Riakporhe, defending his WBO cruiserweight strap.

The champion won that belt from Okolie last June, and the beaten man sees a way to run it back.

Okolie fights against Lucasz Rozanski on Friday night for the Polish fighter’s WBC bridgerweight world championship.

The Briton believes that his former rival might one day step up to the same division, allowing them to contest another belt.

"I think Chris is also another quite big cruiserweight so there's probably an opportunity for us to box at bridgerweight after I've won this belt," Okolie told Sky Sports .

"It's not something I'm desperately chasing, we all know I activated the rematch clause and for one reason or another it never happened.

"My career doesn't hang on a rematch, but it would be nice to avenge my only loss."
