Mahmoud Charr wants to be the next opponent for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Charr was strongly rumoured to Fury’s planned opponent for December, despite speculation that Anthony Joshua would be given the nod.

In the end, it was Derek Chisora who fought Fury on December 3, when he stopped his fellow Briton in 10 rounds.

After the fight, Fury goaded Oleksandr Usyk over a potential undisputed fight in 2023, with the Ukrainian in possession of the IBF, WBA and WBO belts. Joe Joyce was also mentioned as an opponent, but Syrian fighter Charr believes he is the right man to fight next, and dismissed last weekend’s fight.

"This [Chisora] fight isn't history, [it means] nothing for me and the boxing fans," Charr told Sky Sports.

"If you read a book one time, two times, three times, what will change in the book? Nothing - that's why I call this fight a small win for Fury, a big win for Chisora [in terms of money]."

Charr, a former WBA (Regular) heavyweight champion, added: "For sure he [Fury] knows that I am more dangerous than Chisora.

"He knows my story. Two shots can't stop me, two new hip operations can't stop me. Who is he to stop me? He knows very well I am 'The Arab King,' no one can stop me."

His own shot at Fury is exactly what Charr longs for.

"If I have and I want something in life, [that I] could wish for, it's to fight 'Gypsy King' Fury, maybe next year in the UAE," he said.

"I want the best in the world. That name is Tyson Fury."

Acknowledging that Fury has alternatives, he noted that Anthony Joshua was another British fighter he wanted, with the former champion still looking for his next fight after his looses to Usyk.

"And second one is Anthony Joshua,” he said.

"Joshua is a great sportsman," he continued.

"He is a smart fighter and a gentleman. This fight is also a wish and a present for all Arabic countries.

"Maybe he is ready to fight me in the UAE, if he wants the smoke."
