Whittaker's record took a small dent against Liam Cameron

Paulie Malignaggi has hit out at Ben Whittaker following his recent performance against Liam Cameron that ended in a draw.

The fight was intended to be a showcase for Whittaker, one of British boxing’s brightest prospects, but he was pushed hard by Cameron before the bout ended prematurely.

During a clinch on the ropes, both fighters went over the ropes and the incident caused Whittaker to hurt his ankle.

Following a lengthy delay, it was confirmed that Whittaker couldn't continue, and the contest went to the scorecards where the fighters couldn't be separated.

Since the fight, Whittaker has endured plenty of criticism regarding his showing and also about how the bout came to a close. Cameron is eager to secure a rematch in 2025, but Whittaker’s next move is still unknown.

Malignaggi, a former world champion famed for his hand speed and courage, believes the Wolverhampton man was looking for a way out.

“I thought he quit, but my problem is the commentating. Everyone is looking for a way to cover it up for him,” said Malignaggi when speaking to ProBox TV

“He threw himself onto the ropes and he had his arms around Cameron’s arms, so when he threw himself, he just pulled the guy with him and flipped over. Yes, the guy is in his face and it’s physical, but he flipped.”
