One fighter is returning.

Roman Gonzalez’s ring return is confirmed as the former pound-for-pound superstar will be back in action this summer.

Gonzalez will fight in Nicaragua, his home country, for the first time since 2015 on July 12 and it’s likely he will compete just under the bantamweight limit.

On his rise up the rankings, Gonzalez impressed all in the lower weight categories as he built a solid record collecting world titles along the way.

A significant promotional boost in the middle of the previous decade saw Gonzalez receive widespread exposure in America as he continued to build his profile.

His last fight, a controversial loss to his great rival, Juan Francisco Estrada, took place in 2022 and it gave the Mexican a 2-1 lead in their thrilling series.

Gonzalez has always set himself big goals and if he can win on his comeback, it’s possible a world title shot could be next.
