Francis Ngannou's coach, Dewey Cooper, has expressed an interest in facing John Fury, the father of WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Cooper is currently preparing Ngannou for his clash with former world champion Anthony Joshua on March 8 live on DAZN PPV, but talk of John Fury is never too far away from big fight nights.
Fury has recently been involved in a back and forth with former super middleweight champion Carl Froch, and he also called out boxing legend Mike Tyson in the build-up to Ngannou's fight with Tyson Fury last year.
Cooper has since responded to these call outs from Fury and teased that maybe a fight with the 59-year-old could be enough for him to step inside the ring and lace up the gloves.
"John Fury wanted to fight Mike Tyson, that’s a big fight and would make a lot of money. I don’t blame him, why not?" Cooper told Mirror Fighting.
"If he called me out, I’d definitely fight him. I’m a coach now, I’m retired from fighting but I train and I can definitely train more if I’m ignited to do such."
Cooper then explained why facing Fury in a boxing ring could be a step into the unknown.
“I haven’t seen him fight because the only fighters I really watch are the legends that I grew up loving and the opponents of my fighters, so I can’t really say," Cooper continued.
"I wouldn’t discount his ability because he’s Tyson Fury’s dad and Tyson is one of the greatest.
“I’m sure he can fight, otherwise he wouldn’t be so confident in himself. I just need enough time to train to fight anybody, but if he wants a boxing fight I’d definitely take it. I would have to of course study him to see what he does well and try to nullify that.”
