'I don't like it, it is not for me' Frank Warren dismisses Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fightDAZN

Mike Tyson's former promoter Frank Warren has insisted he will not watch the boxing legend's return to the ring against Jake Paul on Friday night.

Iron Mike steps out of retirement 19 years after his last professional bout, which ended in defeat to Kevin McBride.

Warren, whose Queensbury Promotions will join forces with DAZN in April 2025 in an exclusive broadcast deal, took over Tyson's management from Don King when the boxer was released from prison in 1995.

Having witnessed Tyson in his prime, which earned him six world championships and the title of the 'baddest man on the planet', Warren has no desire to witness his faded former charge fighting again as such a ripe age.

"No I don't like this fight, I don't like the idea of a 58-year-old man fighting," Warren told talkSPORT. "It is his choice, I can't tell him what to do, and he's got a licence to fight in Texas somehow.

"I like Jake [Paul], he is a great promoter and good to work with. This is the market they work with. It has captured the imagination and got everyone talking about it. It has me taking about it, it has the media world taking about it.

"So, it has done what it is meant to. But I don't like it, it is not for me."

While Warren is not interest in seeing Tyson return or witnessing it at first hand, he still has an opinion on the duel. He hopes Tyson can deliver some of the old magic, but knows from his own direct experience how to defeat him.

"If I was to have a bet I'd back Mike in the first one or two rounds. But Jake is a real fighter and building experience and he has youth on his side, which counts for so much.

"When we set up Danny Williams to fight Mike [in 2004] Danny was one of the biggest underdogs ever.

"But I said to him to just avoid the big shots. Early on just take the heat, take the shots, dig in, wear him out. Then Mike will slow and then go for it. That's what happened and Danny beat Mike."
