Frank Warren believes Anthony Yarde will face Artur Beterbiev this autumn.

Beterbiev beat Joe Smith Jr. last night in New York to become the unified IBF, WBA and WBO light heavyweight champion in another knockout performance.

The convincing manner of victory made it 17 consecutive stoppages and 17 consecutive wins in his unbeaten professional career.

The 37-year-old veteran is now expected to fight Dmitry Bivol for a chance to become undisputed at light heavyweight, but Gilberto Ramirez has been put forward as one alternative, and British fighter Yarde is now his WBO mandatory challenger.

Yarde was in New York to watch the fight that lasted just two rounds, and his promoter Warren expects a fight between the Russian and Briton to go ahead.

"It's more or less agreed, we're looking to fight [Beterbiev] in October in London. Bob and I have agreed we'll do the fight, but they're going to be ordered [to fight Yarde] anyway. It will be a great fight," Warren informed the BBC.

Yarde challenged for the WBO title in 2019 when he lost to Sergey Kovalev, but was stopped in the 11th despite impressing for much of the match-up.

His last fight was back in December when he won his rematch against Lyndon Arthur.
