Frank Warren believes that Daniel Dubois vs. Oleksandr Usyk could be a viable title fight.

Promoter Frank Warren has said he would put forward his young fighter Daniel Dubois against Oleksandr Usyk in a match that might offer up a world title.

Usyk is the mandatory challenger for the WBO heavyweight title, which is currently held by Anthony Joshua in addition to his IBF, IBO and WBA belts.

The WBO belt could come up for grabs if Joshua elects not to defend it in pursuit of arranging a fight with WBC heavyweight Tyson Fury.

That would leave Usyk to fight the next-ranked contender for the WBO belt, which at the moment would be Dubois.

Warren told IFL TV he would be keen: "We'd go with that fight.

“Obviously Daniel is a much bigger guy than Usyk, but Usyk has got tremendous experience and he's a very capable fighter. He's had fights at heavyweight now as we know, former cruiserweight. I think Daniel with his youth and power, it wouldn't be an easy fight, but I fancy him to beat him.”

Nevertheless, there are complications, and as often occurs in the world of boxing, conflicting interests mean that there is no obvious way forward yet.

Joshua, for one, has to defend his IBF title against Kubrat Pulev in a bout that is expected to take place later this year. Usyk himself could take on Dereck Chisora before the end of the year, and Deontay Wilder is expected to face Fury for the third time in December.

One or two upsets might leave a very different situation to be negotiated.

Warren, however is happy to go straight to a fight between Dubois and Joshua if it were possible.

"They've sparred before and Daniel held his own. I've said before, I'd make that fight tomorrow."
