Frank Warren is picking Deontay Wilder to beat Anthony Joshua if the pair clash next year.
After years of trying to secure a bout with each other, it now appears that the super fight between two of boxing’s biggest stars is headed to the Middle East next year with January rumoured to be the target date.
Joshua produced a stunning knockout this past weekend against Robert Helenius as he registered his first stoppage since 2020.
The performance was instantly compared to Wilder’s first round win over Helenius last year, and Warren, the promoter of Tyson Fury, is backing the American to emerge victorious over Joshua if they do fight next.
“Tyson’s beaten him three times and probably taken a lot of miles off his clock in the fights that he had with Tyson,” said Warren when speaking with Boxing Social.
“Tyson did a job on him, especially in that third fight, he had Tyson down as well, it was a tough fight. Wilder didn’t come out of that fight physically well I don’t think.
“I don’t think he’ll beat Wilder by the way but that’s irrelevant. I don’t think he’ll beat Wilder.”
